THE LATEST

12 p.m. update: Now downgraded to Post-Tropical Cyclone Nestor is moving inland over Florida and into Georgia and the Carolinas today, Sunday. Winds are up to 50 mph as it moves northeastward across the state. The storm it has lost some of it’s tropical characteristics. Despite the name change, it is still capable of bringing strong winds and locally heavy downpours.

Around a half-inch of rain here, some gusts:  The current forecast track takes it across Georgia on Saturday. We’ll likely see less than an inch of rain starting Saturday with midday gusts of 20 mph or more.

Hometown Headlines will have continuing coverage throughout the weekend.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

Today-tonight: Isolated thunderstorms are possible through this evening…mainly along and south of a line from Columbus to Macon to Swainsboro…as Tropical Storm Nestor moves northeast across southern Georgia and the Florida Panhandle. Locally heavy rain and gusty winds will be the main hazards, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. A Wind Advisory remains in effect mainly along and south of a line from West Point Lake to Stark to Lexington. Gusty winds from Tropical Storm Nestor may down large tree limbs or small trees as it moves across the area.

Sunday-Friday: Isolated thunderstorms will be possible into early next week as a cold front moves to the region.
