Mr. Thomas Vester McBurnett Sr., age 79, of Armuchee, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. McBurnett was born in Cherokee County, AL on September 23, 1940, son of the late William Vester McBurnett and the late Lavada Ely McBurnett. He was a member of the Local Labor Union # 752, IUE. He was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ann Wright McBurnett, to whom he was married on June 29, 1966; 4 daughters, Kimberly Couzzourt (Danny), Silver Creek, Nonda Lance (Robby), Silver Creek, Melissa Crowe (Jareth), Cedar Bluff, AL, and Lavada Pledger (Jason), Rome; 3 sons, Thomas McBurnett Jr. (Letha), Armuchee, George McBurnett, Calhoun, and Michael McBurnett, Rome; a sister, Bobbie Jo Dalrymple, Rome; a brother, James McBurnett, Rome; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, October 21, 2019, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Vance Stiles will officiate with Thomas McBurnett delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park with the Rev. Gregg Free in charge of the graveside rites.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel from 5 pm -7 pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Monday at 1:30 pm and include; Thomas, George and Michael McBurnett, Corey and Codey Lance, Jareth Crowe, Shane McBurnett, Jason Pledger, Isiah Pledger, Mikey and Brandon McBurnett.
Lucy Heggie Kilpatrick of Rome died October 16, 2019. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on May 13, 1923, the daughter of George W. and Mattie W. Heggie.
They moved to Chattanooga, TN when Lucy was 8 years old. After high school, she studied in New York City for a year and then attended the Univeristy of Chattanooga, now University of Tenessee at Chattanooga. She was the wife of James S. Kilpatrick Sr. who preceeded her in death June 23, 2005. They were married on September 29, 1945 in Baltimore, MD at Mount Vernon Place Methodist Church. They then moved to Rome in September 1952. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in many committees and was a member of the Adult Fellowship Class. She was also a member of Mountain View Garden Club where she served in different offices and won awards over the years. Lucy had been an active part of the Rome community serving in various community organizations. Her church and her family were always the most important thing in her life.
Survived by her children: J. Sterling Kilpatrick Jr. of Kennesaw, GA; G. David Kilpatrick and wife Donnia of Pelham, AL; F. Richard Kilpatrick and wife Kathy of Atlanta, GA; Patricia Kilpatrick Urqhart and husband Carey of Alpharetta, GA. Nine grandchildren and 5 great grand children.

Mrs. Oneida Anne Adams, age 85, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday morning, October 17, 2019.
A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Adams was born July 7, 1934, daughter of the late Eustace and Julia Helen Busby Carter. She had lived most all her life in Rome and was a longtime member of Sherwood Forest Baptist Church. Mrs. Adams had worked in banking for over 30 years and retired in the early 1990s. She enjoyed taking rides and spending time with her dog, Lita.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her first husband, T.J. Waits, and her second husband, H. Wilson Adams, on January 11, 2011, whom she married August 3, 1968. A son, Eddie Raiden Waits, and a daughter, Sonda Wilene Adams, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Adams is survived by two daughters, LuAnn Williams of Rome, and Pamela Adams and her husband, Johnny Patrick of Peachtree City, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Leigh Ann Adams of Rome. Eight grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Hayes and Rev. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Adams family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
