A building permit for Panda Express with a construction value of $800,000 has been issued by the city of Rome’s building department. Issued to Ledbetter Properties on Oct. 3, the permit lists an address of 1421 Turner McCall Blvd. It is the first permit for the 20 to 28 retailers and restaurants due at East Bend, the retail center replacing Kmart in East Rome. The restaurant is due in 2020. Also on the way and confirmed by corporate: Chipotle.
Also on file was a $2 million permit for Coosa Valley Credit Union’s new headquarters at 1307 Redmond Circle, just off the Bypass and across the high way from The Spires at Berry College. “All of the environmental and foundation work has been done and we expect steel to begin going up in the next week or so. We hope for a late summer 2020 opening – of course once it starts raining, that timetable could be out the window,” say Stephanie Graves.
The former Rite Aid at Division and Shorter is becoming CSL Plasma Center. The company has ordered almost $1.77 million worth of remodeling at the site. CSL has signed a 15-year for the property, working with Jimmy Byars of Hardy Realty.
Winthrop Court’s new memory care center has been issued a certificate of completion. That project cost just over $1.5 million. It features a 16-unit memory care center for residents with dementia, memory loss or Alzheimer’s diagnosis. The area had been used as the childcare academy, says Gardner Williams, COO with Charles Williams Real Estate Investment Corp., which owns Winthrop Court. The project includes a large common area, dining area, sitting areas and courtyard for outdoor sitting.
