Rome Police are investigating the fourth shooting in a month, this time on East 15th Street near Maple Avenue. Since early August, five people have been shot — two at each other — and one person has died. The latest case:
Rome Police media release: At 5:17 p.m. Thursday, Rome Police officers responded to the area of 110 E. 15th St. in reference to a reported shooting. A female victim was located a short distance away on Maple Avenue. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury in her shoulder and was transported to Floyd Medical Center.
The scene was secured and the criminal investigation division was notified. The investigation revealed that the shooter was Henry Dejuan Ferrell.
- Aug. 29: Quincy J. Fluker, 32, surrendered at the Floyd County Jail late Wednesday to face charges of aggravated assault, jail records show. He was being sought in connection to a shooting in the South Rome area.
- Aug. 20: Rome Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired on Maple Street at East Ninth Street. On arrival, the officer found a man who had been shot. This male was on the sidewalk in front of a residence on East Ninth Street. Further investigation found a second man who had been shot. This male was located on the porch of a residence on Maple Street. Both survived.
- Aug. 17: Rome Police have murder warrants out for the arrest of Joe Paul Atwater, 18, of Rome. He’s wanted in the shooting death of Jonathan Lynn Hull.
