A new restaurant will be opening soon at a familiar spot in Armuchee. The Farmhouse Kitchen plans to open this month at 3793 Martha Berry Highway, the most recent home of Almost Famous Homestyle Cafe and, before that, Mr. D’s.

A look through the windows on Saturday showed some interior work and painting under way. A sign on the door directs folks to the restaurant’s Facebook page.  No opening date it listed, but signs say September 2019. We reached out to the restaurant for more information on menu and business hours but have been unable to get a response. Stay tuned for updates. (Tip to William Olson)

Rome’s Jerusalem Grill,  at 223 Turner McCall Blvd., is expanding into Calhoun. Owner Tony Jasper says he plans to open the new restaurant on Highway 41 at I-75, Exit 318, within “the next three to four weeks, by Oct.1 or sooner. We think the location will be great right off the interstate,” he says. “We plan to have the same menu as we do in Rome.”

Jasper opened a second Rome location called Jerusalem Express at 330 Broad St. in January 2018 but closed that location eight months later. It is now the home of Don Neo’s Tacos and Elotes. Jasper says he would like to open other Jerusalem Grill locations in nearby communities, including Cartersville. Business hours in Calhoun will be Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
