The new business and restaurant boom continues in Rockmart as another new business opens its doors. The Rockin’ Rooster & Happy Hen, an antiques and collectibles shop, is now open at 401 North Piedmont Avenue. Located at a busy intersection near the Silver Comet Trail, the store has been very busy in its first week of business since opening Aug. 1.

“We’ve been very busy. Folks are thrilled to have a store back in this shopping center that’s been vacant for a while,” says Owner Helen Riley.

It’s one of several news businesses in the area following the late April opening for Fast Trac Car Wash and Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, both located off Hwy. 278.

“We have a little bit of everything…from new merchandise to jams, jellies and soap. We have home decor, paintings, farmhouse furniture, vintage furniture and clothes,” says Riley.

Rockin’ Rooster & Happy Hen offers a number of new merchandise lines such as ‘Primitives by Kathy’ and also leases out space to 16 vendors with a variety of antiques and collectibles.

“We are full on vendors now, but I am about to open some pallet walls in the back for smaller areas folks can rent,” she says.

In addition to its retail offerings, Rockin’ Rooster & Happy Hen also has a special occasion ‘Tea Room’ that can be reserved for special events such as showers or birthday parties. “Folks can reserve the space and we have two local caterers we work with that can provide food for the events,” says Riley.

The store will also be offering special kids’ activities throughout the year. “We really have something for everyone,” she says.

Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
