People’s Choice Award, determined by community support in the form of funds donated, went to Team Roberson with Brad Roberson of the Rome-Floyd Fire Department dancing with Hannah Camacho of West Central Elementary School and The Dance Centre.

It’s a wrap on the 2019 OTR Wheel Engineering Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge with a record $202,000 raised for the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA. Including this year’s donations, more than $1.2 million has been raised in the last nine years from the annual event modeled after the popular realty TV show “Dancing With the Stars.”

From the RCDC Facebook page:  “Congratulations to People’s Choice winners Brad Roberson and Hannah Camacho, who raised $41,410, and Judges’ Choice winners Lewis Byrne and Tara Ogle.”

The Judges’ Choice Winner was Team Byrne with Lewis Byrne of Berry College Elementary School dancing with Tara Ogle of Harbin Clinic and The Dance Centre. Judges’ runner up is Team Byars with Rob Byars of Rome Drywall dancing with Madison Brinson, now a University of Georgia student who has close to  20 years of dance experience and has been part of the Dance Centre in Rome throughout her entire dancing career.

The People’s Choice runner-up was Team Johnson with Emily Johnson of the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office dancing with her husband, Bryan Johnson, of Cox, Byington, Twyman & Johnson.

The RCDC featured performances by 10 celebrity teams, with styles ranging from hip hop to ballroom and everything in between:

  • Rob Byars of Rome Drywall dancing with Madison Brinson.
  • Lewis Byrne of Berry College Elementary School dancing with Tara Ogle of Harbin Clinic and The Dance Centre
  • Emily Johnson of the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office dancing with her husband, Bryan Johnson, of Cox, Byington, Twyman & Johnson
  • Rebekah Kinney of Darlington School dancing with Russell Evans of The UPS Store and Rome Little Theatre
  • Shelby Moore of Culbreth Carr Watson Animal Clinic dancing with Alexis Tyson of Cedartown Middle School.
  • Colin Powell of Keller Williams Realty dancing with Jessica Cole, who will be teaching at Elm Street Elementary beginning next year
  • Brad Roberson of the Rome-Floyd Fire Department dancing with Hannah Camacho of West Central Elementary School and The Dance Centre
  • Devon Smyth of The Shelter dancing with Dicie Waters, a student at Georgia Highlands College and member of the Rome Braves Brigade.
  • Robert Smyth of Coosa Valley Credit Union dancing with his daughter, Caroline Smyth, a student at Coosa High School
