Mr. David Donald Fricks, age 85, of Rome, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. Fricks was born in Westminster, S.C. on September 28, 1933, son of the late Joe T. Fricks and the late Essie Mae James Fricks. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. David was a maintenance supervisor with Shaw Industries until his retirement. He was a certified small engine pilot. He was a member of Shannon United Methodist Church and was active in the Men’s Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Hollingsworth Fricks, and by his sisters, Betty Jo Neururer and Marilyn Gould.
Survivors include his daughter and her husband, LeGressa and Lee Barnes, of Rome; his grandsons, Perry Barnes, Cody Barnes and Jamey Barnes; his brothers, James Fricks and Fred Fricks; his sister, Brenda Patterson; his special friend, Mardelle Lynch; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Dr. Kenneth Freshour officiating and with Lee Barnes delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Saturday from noon until the service hour.

Mrs. Ayten Kaytaz Griffith, age 88, of Marietta, GA, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019.
Mrs. Griffith was born in Western Turkey. She attended Catholic school in Cyprus, where she learned to speak four languages fluently. She was the Captain of her volleyball team and was also crowned “Miss Ankara” shortly after her graduation.
When the Turkish Airlines announced that they were adding Hostesses (flight attendants) in 1947, Ayten knew this was something she would love to do. She was one of the first to apply and was hired immediately as one of the first three Hostesses, where she flew with many dignitaries and even the President of Turkey. She eventually married and moved to the United States where she had three children and resided in Atlanta. She would then work for Delta Airlines and took pride in only missing one day of work in the 16 years of employment.
After retirement, Ayten volunteered at the 1996 Summer Olympics, supported animal rights, and gave countless hours helping the victims of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that his Istanbul in August 1999 and killed over 17,000 people. Ayten will be remembered as an avid animal lover and someone that would give you the shirt from her back.
She is survived by her children, Phillis Griffith, Cartersville, GA, Rana Griffith Sass (Brian), St. Augustine, FL, and Dale Griffith (Connie), Chesterfield, VA; 5 grandchildren, Olivia and Charlie Sass, Victoria Peachy (Andrew), Alyssa and Joe Griffith; wonderful friends, Robin and Sylvia Claros, and their children, Leah and Mateo.
All services will be private.

Willard James Dover, age 67, of Rome passed away Wednesday August 7, 2019, in a local hospital.
Willard was born August 12, 1951, in Cartersville, a son of the late Henry James Dover, and Missie Idell Atkinson Dover. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Brianna Dover, brother, Donald Dover.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Pugh Dover, son, Terry Dover, daughter, Melissa Dempsey, Vanessa Dover, grandchildren, Hailley Wolski, Savannah Dover, Elijah Wolski, Alexis Dover, Austin Dover, Maci Clark, Tinsley Johnson, brothers, Dillard, Ronald, David, Freddy, Harold, Daryl, and Brian Dover, sisters, Ellen Bearden, Hellen Barnette, and Charlotte Lewis, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday August 9, 2019, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Coomer officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service, on Friday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Friday: Austin Dover, Terry Dover, Darold Dover, Freddy Dover, Wesley Dover, Davey Dover, Donald Cromer and Clay Manor.
Ms. Kimberly Clifton, 35, of Rome, Georgia, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at a local hospital. Services are incomplete at this time but will be announced at a later date. Wright Memorial Mortuary.
