Both drivers in a head-on collision are undergoing treatment at Rome hospitals following an afternoon collision on the Bypass near Rome High School.
Rome Police report the driver of a red SUV was travelling east on the Bypass when he suddenly crossed the median and struck a black SUV driven by a woman. Police are waiting to get more information on the accident as both drivers are under medical care, one at Redmond Regional Medical Center and the other at Floyd Medical Center. Officer Matt Cowan is the primary officer investigating the accident.

Avoid the Bypass on the commute home this evening. A serious accident — described by an experienced witness as a potential head-on collision — has traffic snarled at 5 p.m. The situation will get worse with the commute home plus the Rome Braves open a home stand tonight vs. Augusta at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
