Mrs. Sybil Reeves Barlow, age 90, of Rome, GA, passed away Friday morning, August 2, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Barlow was born in Kingston, Ga, on February 19, 1929, daughter of the late Hollie Reeves and Virgie Crawford Reeves.  She was a graduate of Johnson High School and attended Sherwood Forest Baptist Church.  Mrs. Barlow was married on October 21, 1951, to John Russell Barlow, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2011.  Since Mr. Barlow was in the United States Navy, the family lived at several locations throughout the country.  Mr. and Mrs. Barlow moved back to Rome and Floyd County in 1976 and for many years she was the owner-operator of The Log Cabin restaurant on Kingston Highway.  Mrs. Barlow loved shopping and reading, but mostly spending time with grandchildren.   In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Barlow was preceded in death by a brother, Albert “Flick” Reeves.

Mrs. Barlow is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Howard Elrod, and Donna and Larry Transue; two granddaughters and their husbands, Heather and Chad Wheat and Lindsay and Heath Cochran; five great-grandchildren, Gracie Wheat, Mackenzie Wheat, Lillie Kate Wheat, Olivia Cochran and Ava Cochran.  Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barlow will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Hayes officiating.  Private interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family would love to express their thanks and admiration for the staff of Tapestry Hospice for taking succ good care of Mrs. Barlow including Amber, Heather and Ira.

Ms. Veronica Patricia Payne Camp, age 86, of Willow Springs, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019.

Ms. Camp was born in Rome, Georgia on February 16, 1933, daughter of the late Floyd Conrad Payne and the late Annie Irene Williams Payne.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel Lynn Camp, Jr., and by the father of her children, Samuel Lynn Camp, Sr.  Ms. Camp worked for a several years as a dining facility manager at Ft. Benning.  She was a member of Christian Life Church, Phenix City, AL, and was an active intercessory prayer member.  As a child Ms. Camp sang on WRGA radio.  She authored four books entitled “Poems for God’s Glory”.  Ms. Camp loved animals and was formerly a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Glenn Garner Camp (Becky), Ozark, AL; a daughter, Anna Posey (Richard), Willow Springs, NC; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Camp, Peachtree City, GA; three sisters, Bonnie Holden, Shirley Howard and Juanita Simpson; a brother, Creig Payne; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at 4pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Brooks officiating.  Interment will follow in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Wednesday from 6 until 8pm.

Ms. Marci Faye Harris Dunn, age 47, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at her residence.

Ms. Dunn was born in Rome, Georgia on February 8, 1972, daughter of Kenneth Mayberry Harris and Sandra Faye Mull Harris.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  Ms. Dunn had received a bachelor’s degree in nursing.  She worked as a Nurse at Floyd Medical Center for 20 years and was currently working at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jonathan Dunn, Rome, and Zachary Dunn, Rome; her parents, Kenneth and Sandra Harris, Lindale; a sister, Kendra Harris, Rome; a nephew, Avery Harris; several cousins and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 4pm at Trinity United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Nanci Hicks will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 10th from 2 until 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 606 Turner McCall Blvd., Rome, GA 30165.

Billy Joseph Floyd was born on December 23, 1957 and passed away on August 1, 2019. Services are pending. Daniel’s Funeral Home.
