‘Justice for Immigrants Candlelight Vigil’ set for 7 until 9 p.m. Friday in downtown Rome.

Romanos Unidos and Turn Your Back on Hate plan a Justice for Immigrants Candlelight Vigil this Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. at the law enforcement center in downtown Rome. The groups are urging area residents to “join Romanos Unidos and Turn Your Back on Hate as we stand together against the incarceration of asylum seekers and the separation of families and as we honor the children who have died in ICE detention centers.”

Those taking part are asked to bring a candle; signs of three feet or less are welcome as well.

The Rev. Jonathan Trapp, pastor for Faith Formation at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta will be speaking at the vigil.

Romanos Unidos describes itself as follows:”We are here to let the immigrant population of Rome know that we stand with them in solidarity.”
