Politics: Floyd Democrats meeting Thursday night. Debate among 20 Democratic presidential candidates tonight, Wednesday. Hometown interview on the 2020 presidential race.

The Floyd County Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority at 560 N. Division St., Rome.
The group will discuss upcoming local elections, including what seats are open, how to qualify to run and opportunities to work on campaigns and voter turnout. All who are interested are  welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Tonight, Wednesday: Round two of the Democratic presidential candidate debates: Another two-night debate is set for this Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 8 p.m. Ten different Democrats will appear each night in a broadcast live from Detroit’s Fox Theatre. The format is expected to be similar to the June debates.
