WESTERN PAULDING COUNTIES UNTIL 715 PM EDT...

AT 646 PM EDT...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS OVER FELTON, OR 7 MILES
NORTH OF BUCHANAN...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 10 MPH.

  HAZARD...FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAIN.

  IMPACT...LIGHTNING IS ONE OF NATURE'S LEADING KILLERS. IF YOU CAN 
           HEAR THUNDER...YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE STRUCK BY 
           LIGHTNING. HEAVY RAIN MAY CAUSE TEMPORARY STREET FLOODING 
           ESPECIALLY IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

OUTLOOK

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and very heavy rain. While most storms will not be severe, one or two could briefly reach severe levels. Heavy rain may also lead to minor flooding of poor drainage areas.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS

Homespun Festival in Rockmart: Due to the weather and rising water, the Homespun festival was cancelled. No parade and no vendors in the park. No fireworks tonight. The creek and many streets were already flooded and this decision was made for the safety of all involved. Please do not come down to the park while the vendors who are still there pack up to leave today. Please share to help get the word out so that people aren’t still trying to come downtown.
