Cartersville EMT, substitute teacher charged with four counts of child molestation, other crimes. Bartow County Schools immediately terminated his contract.

Update from Bartow County Schools: On July 19, 2019, the Bartow County School System immediately terminated Bryan Somers as a contracted substitute teacher following notification of his arrest by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office. He will no longer be eligible to obtain employment opportunities with the school system moving forward.

Media release: According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, on July 19, following a joint investigation from a tip provided by the Polk County Police Department, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations arrested Bryan Somers.

Somers is a Metro Ambulance EMT in Bartow County as well as a substitute teacher for the Bartow County School System. Bryan Somers is reported to have substituted predominately at Emerson Elementary School.

Somers, age 40, of Cartersville, was charged with four counts of Child Molestation, two counts of Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, one count of Possession of Child Pornography and three counts of Distribution of Child Pornography.
