- Census Bureau Job Fair. Wednesday, July 24, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Georgia Department of Labor’s Rome Career Center, 462 Riverside Parkway. Census Taker positions are available; full- and part-time positions available. All positions are temporary. Starting at $14 per hour plus mileage.
- Floyd County Career Fair, Thursday, July 25, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Georgia Department of Labor’s Rome Career Center, 462 Riverside Parkway. Interviews will be conducted onsite for over 20 vacant full- and part-time positions with Floyd County.
Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home’s annual Low Country Boil & Barbecue is Friday, Aug. 9, at the Palladium at 69 Church St. in Rome at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds. The event is sponsored by Sweet P’s at the Palladium.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., which features an open bar and an all-you-can-eat buffet of low country boil and barbecue provided by The Season Events Catering served at 7:30 p.m. The local bluegrass band The Barbaric Yawps will provide musical entertainment during dinner.
Attendees will be able to choose from a variety of live and silent auction items at the event. Silent auction items will be awarded “raffle style,” with participants purchasing raffle tickets that will be drawn for the various prizes. The live auction will be led by Lynn Dempsey and Doug Walker.

Aug. 24: 2019 Lip Sync Battle for The Sweet Cocoon: Come out and watch or participate as we fake it til we make it at the 2019 Lip Sync Battle benefiting The Sweet Cocoon.
