5:30 p.m. A large part of Rome is without power this afternoon. At least 1,695 customers of Georgia Power lost service around 5 p.m. Sunday. The repair estimate is 6:30 p.m., according to Georgia Power’s outage map.
The problem: There’s a tree on power lines near the Stay Lodge on Dean Avenue (to your right as you come off U.S. 411 onto Dean Avenue near the Ledbetter Interchange).
The outage hits as temperatures sit at 90 degrees with a heat index of 92.
