Three drownings and two boating fatalities were reported by the law enforcement division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources between July 4 and Sunday.
The Calhoun office, which includes Northwest Georgia, reported three boating under the influence arrests. Statewide, there were 29 BUI arrests.
There were 11 boating accidents in all with five injuries and the two deaths. None of those accidents involved anyone using alcohol, the statewide report shows.
DNR game wardens were searching for suspected boaters under the influence as part of the weekend Operation Dry Water campaign.
