Alice Avanelle Burkhalter Denmon, age 72, of Cartersville, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019.
Ms. Denmon was born in Rome, Georgia on August 12, 1946, daughter of the late Norman Lee “Skeet” Burkhalter and the late Fronnie Mozelle Davis Burkhalter. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shyanne Smith. Ms. Denmon was a 1964 graduate of Pepperell High School and was a member of the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for Christie’s Office Supply for 37 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Smith (Jason), Cartersville, and Susie Denmon, Temple; two sons, Randy Denmon (Lisanne), Carrollton, and Wes Denmon (Amber), Dallas; a brother, Stephen Burkhalter, Rome; 8 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Fricks and the Rev. Patrick Miller officiating. Private interment will follow in the family lot at Wax Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson& Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 2:30 until 4 p.m. There will be a celebration of life reception following the service in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church of Lindale.
Mr. Robert C. “Dutch” Walker III, age 80, of Cumming, Ga., passed away on July 3, 2019. Mr. Walker was born April 22, 1939, in Rome, GA. He was predeceased by his wife, Judy McKelvey Walker, parents Robert and Retta Williamson Walker, his brother, Alan Walker and sister-in-law Nancy McKelvey Drysdale.
Mr. Walker lived in Tucker and Jasper before moving to Cumming. He worked in property management and real estate in the Atlanta area before retiring.
Survivors include his two sons: Ben (Patricia) Walker of Jasper, GA and David Walker of Cumming, GA three granddaughters: Allie and Lyla of Ball Ground and Carson Walker of Cumming and brothers Michael (Penny) Walker of Dawsonville, GA and Todd Walker of Conyers, GA, and nieces and nephews: Anna Rose (Joel) Wascher, Andrew (Lisa) of Smyrna, Lane (Alexis) Walker of Canton and Brent (Audrey) of Atlanta; sister-in-law Sunny McAfee Walker and brother-in-law, John (Elaine) McKelvey of Ft. Wayne, IN.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday July 6, 2019 at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rome, Georgia.

Mrs. Bonnie Sue Bramlett Carter, age 79, of Rome, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2019. Mrs. Carter was born in Lindale, Georgia, on June 28, 1940, daughter of the late Judge C.W. and Estella Sisson Bramlett. Mrs. Carter was a member of East Rome Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gary L. Carter, married August 7, 1957, one son, Allen Carter (Dottie), El Paso, TX, two daughters, Lizabeth Jolly (Greg), Centre, AL, and Nancy Koch (Rob), Rome. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Novella Trotter, Rome. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. on Saturday July 6, 2019. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home at 3 p.m. on Sunday July 7, 2019, with a graveside service to follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Peggy Ruth Morris Ware, age 86, of Lindale, GA, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Ware was born in Lindale, GA on March 10, 1933, daughter of the late Jewell Simpson Morris, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Tillery Morris. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jewell Simpson “Pug” Morris, Jr. and James Lamar “Big Jim” Morris, Sr. Mrs. Ware attended Pepperell Schools and Rome Girl’s High School. Prior to her retirement, she was Shipping Manager with Outside Carpets in Shannon. Mrs. Ware was a member of Xavier Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Lindale Garden Club, and First Baptist Church of Lindale.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Ware, to whom she was married on January 28, 1951; 2 daughters, Danette Ware Ozment (Lynn), Ellijay, GA, and Lynn Ware Spratling (Tim), Lindale, GA; 2 grandsons, Brian Ozment, Ellijay, GA, and Justin Ozment (Amanda), Coosa, GA; 5 great grandchildren, Austin Ozment (Amy), Newnan, GA, Madison Ozment, Ellijay, GA, and Kalei, Ellie, and Bethany Ozment, all of Coosa, GA; 2 great-great grandchildren, Ryleigh Mae Ozment and Corbin Daniel Ozment, both of Newnan, GA; her grand dog, Moose; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with Barry Henderson officiating. Private interment will follow later in Pleasant Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Joyce Mathis Milstead, age 80, of Rome passed away Thursday July 4, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Milstead was born March 6, 1939, in Kingston, a daughter of the late Bernard Owen Mathis, and Edith Kerce Mathis. She was a member of Armuchee Southern Methodist Church, she was retired from Integrated Products, and World Carpets. Mrs. Mistead was a 1956 graduate of Coosa High School. She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Owen Milstead, sister, Kay Mathis Edgeworth.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, L. J. Milstead, daughter, Sherryl (Randy) Chambers, grandson, Randall Chambers, son, Dallas (Cheyenne) Graham, granddaughter’s, Joy and Ivy Graham, grandson, Casion Graham, sisters, Yvonne (Ronald) Hess, Jan Hale, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday July 7, 2019, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mac McCurry, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
Mrs. Doris Culberson Hight, age 93 of Shannon passed away Tuesday July 2, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Hight was born August 23, 1925, in Adairsville, a daughter of the late John Culberson, and Lula Smith Culberson. She was a member of Shannon First Baptist Church. Mrs. Hight loved baseball, basketball, especially the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks. Mrs. Hight was retried from Gayley-Lord after over 40 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Cliff Culberson, Carl Culberson, Howard Culberson, Esmond Culberson; sisters, Otha Sutton, Alma Woodring, Polly Ellerbee, Avie David, Aleen Witt, Lucile Littlefield, Eloise Moore, and Joyce Chastain.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Richard and Denise Nelson, Shannon; special friends, Vera Brock, and Pat Irwin, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday July 6, 2019 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Alan Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family received friends Friday night.

Mrs. Eunice Carolyn Crunkelton Davenport, age 86, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Davenport was born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 10, 1932, daughter of the late Charlie Crunkelton and the late Venice Green Byrd. She was also preceded in death by a son, Randall Rayford Davenport. Mrs. Davenport was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was a faithful minister’s wife and a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Davenport worked for several years at Integrated Products of Rome.
Survivors include her husband of almost 67 years, Rev. Rayford Davenport, to whom she was married on September 13, 1952; two daughters, Diane Davenport Hethcox (Steve), Auburn, GA, and Serena Davenport Chastain (Charles), Rome; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Davenport, Rome; a sister, Kathryn Storey, Rome; a brother, Jack Byrd, Lindale; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Davenport and the Rev. Donald Collum officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Mr. Robert Lee Dennis III, age 25, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Monday, July 1, 2019. The funeral service will be Friday, July 12, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Habitation of God’s Glory and Praise in Cedartown. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
