From WZQZ FM 99.1/AM 1180 (original story): A Silver Creek man died in a single-vehicle accident on I-59 in DeKalb County, Ala., on Saturday afternoon. He’s been identified as James Harold Hills, 61, of Silver Creek, the radio station reports. The accident happened around 3:40 p.m. Central time; Alabama state troopers say that Hills ran off the road, overturned and then the tractor-trailer caught on fire. The accident happened near exit 239 – the Sulphur Springs exit just a few miles from the Georgia state line.
Chattooga County fatality: One person has been killed in a single vehicle crash early Saturday morning along Holland-Chattoogaville Road in Lyerly (Chattooga County). From Georgia State Patrol: Robert Holland Strawn was traveling west on Holland-Chattoogaville Road in a white 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. Mr. Strawn ran off the edge of the roadway, overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then crossed both lanes of traffic, left the roadway again on the opposite side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Mr. Strawn was not restrained and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
