Second fatal accident in Rome this week as 50-year-old man dies from injuries.

Charles E. Barton, 50, died Wednesday at Floyd Medical Center following a traffic accident on Tuesday, according to Deputy Coroner Connie Chandler. Barton sustained “blunt force trauma” in the collision, she said, and passed a day later.

Barton is the second man to die in a Rome accident since Saturday morning. Douglas Wayne Cooper, 62, of Rome died early Saturday following a collision at East 12th Street and Second Avenue. Both drivers in the accident face drunken driving charges.
