Rome Police: Polk County man, 21, was shot twice near Hardy Avenue; listed in stable condition. Investigation continues.

THE LATEST

From Rome Police Department: “At 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Rome Police Officers were notified of a person driving toward the hospital who had been shot in the back. Officers located the vehicle at the Market on Second Avenue gas station with two obvious wounds to the back and multiple bullet holes in the vehicle. Investigation revealed this incident occurred on Hardy Avenue. Criminal investigators are currently processing the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where his condition is listed as stable. The shooter(s) are unknown at this time.
The victim is a 21-year-old male, Qualin Finley of a Polk County address.

Rome Police report the following on the situation on Second Avenue:

A male drove to the Market on Second Wednesday afternoon to report he had been shot.

Police believe the crime actually occurred on Hardy Street in South Rome.

The wounded man has been taken to the hospital while police say they do not have a suspect as of Wednesday evening.

The drive between the shooting scene and the store is 2.1 miles or takes around six minutes.

PREVIOUSLY

Please avoid travel on Second Avenue between Broad Street and Glenn Milner this evening. Some sort of incident at the Market on Second (Second Avenue and East Fourth Street) has traffic blocked in the area. Witnesses tell Hometown Headlines that four to five police cruisers, two fire trucks and ambulances are at the store at 5:10 p.m. Initial reports say it involves a shooting, according to those witnesses. We’re awaiting updates from first responders. The above map from Google Traffic shows driving conditions at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
