From the Georgia Department of Natural Resources:
“Just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2019, Georgia DNR Game Wardens responded to the scene of a boating incident on the Coosa River in Floyd County at Brushy Branch. The preliminary investigation indicates that two vessels traveling in opposite directions on the river collided. One individual was flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga with possible serious injuries. Another person was transported to Floyd Medical Center and has been released. It does not appear that alcohol was involved in the incident. DNR will continue the investigation that will likely take several weeks to complete.”
Two people were injured in a boating accident at Brushy Branch late Tuesday with one of the victims being “life flighted” to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga, according to Rome Police and Floyd E-911.
A second patient was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. Preliminary reports say the injuries were caused in a boating accident.
The incident is being investigated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. We’ll have updates from DNR later this morning.
