What better name for a beer brewed on Broad? Rome City Brewing Co.’s Downtown Brown Ale had to switch to a new name because of some Left Coast conflicts (and we thought the feds regulated all these beer names). Jay Shell and Dr. Trent Prault opened up a “name that brew” survey and the winner is a hometown natural, Coostanaulah Brown Ale. Says Jay in a Facebook post: “Proudly announcing the new name of one of our signature beers – Coostanaulah Brown! Same great taste but with a name to pay tribute to our three rivers right here in downtown Rome. Can you name our three rivers? Thank you to everyone that suggested names. That was fun. #RCBC#RomeMadeBeer #DrinkLocal #BrownAle.”
- Look for the new name on cans soon. Also on sale at RCBC’s Tap Room above the brewery at 333 Broad St., open Wednesday through Sunday.
- Sure, we were pulling for Hometown Brown Ale but the people have spoken. Dibs on declaring Coostanulah Brown the official beer of the Hometown Headlines Podcast.
