Having been on the market for several months, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church‘s property at 1818 Kingston Highway near the Rome Bypass is now under contract. Although there will be a new property owner, the church will remain at its current location for at least the next three years says Rev. Tom Bowen, Pastor of the church.
The 13.5 acres of land with a 10,000 square foot church building, 24,000 square foot gymnasium/office building and 1,500 square foot storage building have been listed with the Norton Agency out of Gainesville, Ga. for $1.6 million. Click here for the listing.
“The property is currently under contract to be purchased and we should be closing very soon,” says Patrick Cisco, listing agent.
Bowen says the new purchaser will be buying the entire property including all buildings, but has negotiated a 3-year lease with the church for them to remain in the Sanctuary/Fellowship Hall only.
“The purchaser plans on building a complex up around the back part of the land using the gymnasium and doesn’t need use of our Sanctuary right now,” he says.
No word yet on who the new owner(s) will be or their plans for the property. The gymnasium/office building was at one point the home of Providence Preparatory Academy, a non-traditional homeschool hybrid school, that utilized the facility for about seven years before it closed in May 2018.
