OUTDOORS

Rome: Northside Swim Center at 501 Kingston Ave NE. Rome, is now open. Hours: Monday- Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. ​Admission: $5 (4 years old and up). Cash only. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Only persons with paid admission are allowed inside pool gate. Has a capacity of 190. Outside food and drink is not permitted.

Bartow County: The Beach at George Washington Carver Park is now open. Hours are Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; though Closed Mondays, the beach is open July 4th and Labor Day. Picnic tables and grills are available; however, no other fires allowed. There is no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk. Admission is $5 per car.

What’s ahead next weekend:

Rome Braves will be hosting the Lexington Legends at State Mutual Stadium on Thursday-Sunday. Games are at 7 pm. on Thursday and Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rome Braves Cowboy Hat Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans through the gates will be on Saturday. The 4 Korners concert in downtown Cartersville on Saturday, June 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. It’s free admission, and food and drink will be sold onsite by The Local Bar and GrillCoconuts ice cream, and more.

RockFest 29 at Tellus Science Museum next Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gem, mineral, fossil, and jewelry dealers will be set up in the Banquet Room and outside on the back lawn. See rare and exotic jewelry, ancient fossils, and rocks from around the world that you can purchase for your own collection. Its free for members or included in regular admission price for non-members.
