Obituaries: Katerina Ann Long Luci, Mr. Lon V. (L.V.) Ozment, Mr. Johnny Lewis Price, Mr. Everett Daniel “Dan” Stephens and Mrs. Raeona Lea “Rae” Swanson

Mrs. Raeona Lea “Rae” Swanson, age 77, of Silver Creek, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at her residence.

Mrs. Swanson was born in Riverside, CA on May 31, 1941, daughter of the late Eugene Marlin and the late Lea Staas Foster.  She was a graduate of Riverside High School and attended San Diego State Community College. She was a former employee of the Lindale Mill after 25 years of service.  She was later employed by Publix and was retired from Walmart.  Mrs. Swanson was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. She was an avid cross-stitch enthusiast and had won numerous awards at both the Coosa Valley Fair and the Georgia State Fair.  She proudly displayed all her work and her countless ribbons.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Andrew Swanson, by a grandson Alexander B. Crumbley, by a sister, Shirley Bingham, and a brother, Jerry Marlin.

Survivors include 2 sons, Dennis Swanson (Tammy), Summerville, and David Swanson (Jennifer), Silver Creek; 2 daughters, Shelley Caldwell (Kerry), Lindale, and Julie Crumbley (Chris), Kingston; five grandchildren, Todd Swanson (Lauren), Sydney Parris (Jerry), Matthew Smith (Brooke), Jeff and Luke Crumbley; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  The Rev. Don Spears will officiate and Mrs. Swanson’s granddaughter, Sydney Parris, will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Sunday from 1pm until time for the service.

Katerina Ann Long Luci, age 52 of Rome passed away Monday May 27, 2019 at her residence.

Katerina was born October 2, 1966 in Floyd County. She was preceded in death by her father, Hulin Wayne Long.

Survivors include her sons, Jason Boyd, Gabriel Jorgenson, mother, Lucy Fickett, sister, Stacy (Miller) Bonner, Julie Fickett, brother, Jeff Long, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday June 1, 2019 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery near Centre, Al. The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mr. Lon V. (L.V.) Ozment, 88, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, May 29th.

He was born in Rome on April 22 1931 to the late Lon V. Ozment, Sr. and Julia Neba McCool Ozment. He is survived by his son, Chris Ozment (Laura) and stepson Dale Smith; his brothers Dr. Robert V. Ozment, Floyd Ozment (Mary) and sister Geraldine Turner; his grandchildren Jennifer & Sarah Ozment, Andrew (Allyson) Smith, Paige Burke (Brandon), Mitchell Smith, Adam Smith (Alison), Courtney Waits (Chris), Kendall Schwengel (Caleb), special friend, Bertha Boyd, a brother-in-law Tommy (Nell) Oliver, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Bertha Oliver Ozment in 2016, his brother Buford Ozment and son Sammy Smith.

After graduating from Coosa High School, Mr. Ozment served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Ozment, along with his brother, Floyd, owned & operated Ozment Brothers Service Station for many years as well as Ozment Lawn & Tractor. He was a life-long member of Beech Creek UMC, and 50 year member and past master of Coosa Masonic Lodge 622.

The family wishes to thank Mr. Ozment’s caregivers, Cheryl, Jaime, Kelly and Tracy for all their love, compassion and care.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Bob Skelton on Saturday, June 1st at 12pm at Beech Creek UMC, 2972 Alabama Hwy. with burial following in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10am until the funeral hour. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Andrew Smith, Mitchell Smith, Adam Smith, Brandon Burke, Reginald Ozment, Daniel Ozment, Lynn Ozment and Gary Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Coosa Masonic Lodge.

The Coosa Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Beech Creek UMC c/o Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, GA 30165

Mr. Johnny Lewis Price, 74, of Rome, Georgia, passed away, Thursday, May 30, 2019, at a local hospital.

Services for Mr. Lewis are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Everett Daniel “Dan” Stephens, age 92, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Stephens was born in Floyd County, GA on April 9, 1927, son of the late Robert B. Stephens and the late Lessie Perry Stephens.  Mr. Stephens was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Germany with the 290th Engineer Combat Battalion.  Mr. Stephens retired in 1990, after being employed at Greenwood Manufacturing for 42 years, and moved to Blue Ridge Lake because of his love for fishing and hunting.  Mr. Stephens was a former Scout Master of Troop 6 in Lindale, GA and was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife to whom he married on April 1, 1947, Janie Mae Hice Stephens; his son, Danny L. Stephens, and his wife, Kim, Blue Ridge, GA; his brother, James Gribble, and wife, Sue, Rome, GA; his brother, Donald Gribble, Rome, GA; his sister, Lynda Lumpkin, Rome, GA; grandchildren, Michael D. Stephens, and wife, Alexa, Miami, FL, Allison M. Rogers, and her husband, Jeff, Rome, GA, and Jesse D. Stephens, Denver, CO.  Mr. Stephens was blessed with 4 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 3:00pm in Floyd Memory Gardens.  Members of the family will share.
