The former Spool of Dreams located in the Cotton Block has a new name– Everjean Boutique. Store owner Elizabeth Watkins says she is rebranding the store with a new name to separate it from the Spool of Dreams location in Cartersville that she sold last year. “This one was the newer store and hasn’t been open as long as the Cartersville store, so with the separation of ownership, it just made since to rebrand this store,” she says. No other changes are expected other than “signs, bags and tags” and all clothing brands remain the same. Watkins also owns Blue Sky locations in Rome and Cartersville.

Just in time for summer camping, family gatherings and reunions, Pine Acres Retreat is now open to the public on Lake Allatoona. The park was originally part of the neighboring George Washington Carver Park and ultimately operated as a Girl Scout Camp until recently when the lease was given to Bartow County. Under the management of the Cartersville-Bartow County CVB the park offers tent campsites, cottages, and several indoor and outdoor event venues to accommodate events up to 400 people. Available amenities include a large swimming pool, swimming dock, kayak and canoe rentals, air conditioning, and WiFi optional. The park is open by reservation year-round at 3963 Bartow Carver Rd, Acworth.
