The Spires at Berry College continues to rise quickly just off the Bypass as shown in the two photos taken from the overpass on Tuesday. The City of Rome just issued over $3.37 million in permits for the project for 23 cottages to be built along Running Deer Trail, Wright Way and Eagle Lake Trail in the development. This is in addition to the nearly $18 million in permits issued in early February at 600 Eagle Lake Trail. Overall, the project has secured $120 million in tax exempt bonding and will feature 170 independent living units, which include 23 cottages and 147 apartments, as well as 107 health care suites for assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing care. The continuing care retirement community is among the largest projects in recent years in Rome and Floyd County.

“Things are on track for to open in June 2020. We’ve had some challenges to overcome with all the wet weather we had this spring, but that allowed crews to speed up on other buildings. Our new residents are very anxious to get into their new homes,” says Morgan Lamphere, vice president of Greenbrier Development, the consultancy managing¬†the development of the project.

To date, approximately 80% of the living units have been pre-sold. An upcoming lunch and learn seminar for those learning more about the living opportunities at The Spires at Berry will be held on June 18 at 11:30 at their Information Center on Broad Street.
