From AL.com:  The DeKalb County Deputy Coroner has confirmed Joseph Nicholas Cantrell (age 40) of Rome, Ga., died Monday morning around 11:15 a.m. at DeSoto Falls State Park.

Crews worked to locate the body of a 40-year old man who drowned at DeSoto State Park in Fort Payne. DeKalb County Coroner Tom Wilson said the incident happened at 11:30 a.m. when witnesses said the man jumped from the falls.

“He had apparently just jumped in the water,” Wilson said.

A recovery operation began in the area where he jumped, with Alabama State Park Rangers, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, DeSoto Rescue and Fort Payne Rescue assisting. The body was found in that area, Wilson said.
