A partnership of Georgia Power, Atlanta Gas Light and International Paper is combining to run a much larger gas service line from Coosawatee to the IP plant in West Rome, a project valued at more than $22 million, says Bryan Batson of Atlanta Gas Light. While four times larger than the existing line, the new pipe will greatly expand the capacity of gas flow to International Paper. That company continues to convert from coal-powered to natural gas and this is an extension of that effort.

Aside from construction work, no net job gains are expected, the partnership said.
