The new Murphy USA fuel center is rising quickly atop the former location at the East Rome Walmart off U.S. 411 and Callier Springs Road. The popular fill-up spot — which featured a small store with walk-up service and restrooms, closed April 24. The new location is scheduled to open this summer. It is the latest in a series of upgrades and expansions at fueling spots and convenience stores in our area. RaceTrac has led the way in new stores with locations in Armuchee, West Rome, Adairsville and Cartersville (open, remodeled or on the way). Speedway is joining the crowd at U.S. 411 and Ga. 20 in Cartersville as well.
