Miss Lacey Alexis “Lexi” Head, age 18, of Silver Creek, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in Gadsden, AL.

Lexi was born in Cartersville, Georgia on July 4, 2000, daughter of Aleshia Lynette Channell and Allen Dwayne Head.  She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Cartersville.  Lexi was a 2018 graduate of Pepperell High School where she lettered in Chorus and Cheerleading.  She had just completed her first year at Georgia Highlands College and was planning on transferring to Kennesaw State University after one more year at GHC to get a degree in Sports Physical Therapy.  Lacey worked for Winthrop Health & Rehab as well as at Firehouse Subs.

Music was Lexi’s passion and she had tried out for the Voice twice.  She was a very independent and dedicated person who never met a stranger.  Lexi was always smiling and was always the life of the party.  She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Harrison Fowler.

Survivors include her mother, Aleshia Channell, Silver Creek; her father, Allen Head, Cartersville; her stepfather; Patrick McCarver; a brother, Preston Channell; 4 sisters, Chelsey Jenkins, Talisa Thornbrough, Chelsey McCarver and Kiara McCarver; grandparents, Elizabeth Channell, Ronnie Channell, Sherry Channell and Shelia Fowler,; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Chaplain Billy Murdock officiating and family members delivering eulogies.  Entombment will follow at Rome Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 5 until 8 p.m.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and include Preston Channell, Kayle Wilson, Britton Brock, Tyrese Conner, Zach Edwards and Jamel Archer.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.


Mr. Leon Herald Cross, age 85, of Rome passed away Friday May 10, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Cross was born August 9, 1933 in Wartburg, TN, a son of the late John Herald Cross, and Mary Emma Whaley Cross. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Coosa Masonic Lodge #622 F&AM. Mr. Cross was retired from International Paper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lois Williams Cross, daughters, Angela Cross, Alisha Cross, brother, Louis Cross.

Survivors include son, Lee (Tammy) Cross; daughter, Donna Kay (Edmond) Bush; grandchildren, Tiffany Bush, Edmond Bush, Jacob Bush, Leslie Bush, great grandchildren, Logan Bush, Emily Bush, Chloe Bush, and host of wonderful loving friends and church members at Lakeview.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday May 13, 2019 at Lakeview Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Glosson, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour on Monday at Lakeview Baptist Church, 80 Salem Dr. Rome, Ga. 30165. Coosa Lodge #622 F&AM will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites.

Pallbearers include, Rodney Shannon, Jimmy Rogers, Joe Hays, Sammy White, Barry Didrick, Bill Wooten, and John Peoples.

Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165 has charge of the arrangements.


Mr. Larry Wilson Molock, age 69, of Rome, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019, at a local hospital.

Mr. Molock was born in Gadsden, AL on September 12, 1949, the son of the late Willard Wilson Molock and the late Alice Mabel Alford Molock. Larry was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He worked as a custodian for the Rome City Schools for years as well as cleaning several local churches. Larry loved his family, reading his Bible and singing gospel music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lois Faye Molock.

Larry is survived by his children, Stacey Blackwell (Glenn) and Drew Molock (Jessica); his brother, Doug Molock (Connie); his sister, Sandra Gaskin (Ted); his sister-in-law, Lavader Freeman (Ross); his brother-in-law, Earl Drummond; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Ledford, the Rev. Charlie Holcomb and the Rev. Greg Cater officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Monday from 12:00 pm until the service hour.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Monday at 1:30 pm and include: Aaron Swanson, Casey Wissler, Josh Redden, Jeff Molock, Dusty Nix and Trenton Drummond. Honorary Pallbearers include: Ross Freeman, Shawn Drummond, Frank Pullen, Barry Greeson and Jeff Smith.
