Threat of a weekend washout continues. We could see at least two more inches of rain.

Thursday’s storm aftermath: Some power lines were reported down in Floyd and Chattooga counties; about 1,000 outages were reported near Cave Spring, Adairsville, Taylorsville and Calhoun by Georgia Power and North Georgia EMC.

At 5:30 a.m. Small outages in Coosa and Trion.

Rainfall from 3 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday

Rome: 0.56 of an inch.

Cartersville: 0.47 of an inch.

OUTLOOK

Today: Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected over portions of north and central Georgia this afternoon into tonight. A few storms will be strong and possibly severe over portions of north and west Georgia. The main hazards will be strong and possibly damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain.

Weekend-Monday: There is a chance of thunderstorms across the area Friday into early Monday, with the greatest coverage on Saturday and Sunday. A few storms could be strong and possibly severe with gusty winds and frequent lightning. Heavy rainfall will also be possible, especially across far north Georgia where localized flooding could occur.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Patchy fog between 8am and 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.

Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 8am. Patchy dense fog before 9am. High near 79. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
