Steve Carell, star of “The Office” and several movies and in Rockmart filming “Irresistible,” continues to be very public in his off-hours (and work hours). We considering commissioning an economic impact study because of the number of Carell sightings up and down Broad Street in recent days. Restaurant after restaurant appear in pictures flooding Facebook as area residents mix with the region’s latest celebrity visitor.
From Jay Shell of Rome City Brewing Co.
“So Steve Carell has GOT to be the coolest actor to ever visit Rome, Ga. Luckily – we’ve had a lot of them here in town over the years. But Steve has really got out and enjoyed the town and visited with the locals. I’m thankful that I got a chance to meet him but still regretting not getting a photo. I was trying to be ‘cool’ and not ‘bother’ him with it.’
From Jodi Farmer, assistant to the vice president of operations, Village Theaters Inc.
“Steve Carell came to Movies at Berry Square to watch ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on Tuesday, May 7, at the 4 p.m. show.”
And Isaac Parker, a Berry College Elementary and Middle School student who’s interning with our Hometown Radio edition this week on WRGA 98.7 FM, reports spotting Carell:
On the movie set in Rockmart on Tuesday. Isaac was on scene a second day, this time with his mother, as he has a strong interest in film making. He’ll be attending Rome High this fall. Carell was too far away to get a good photograph, Isaac says, but some in the crowd recognized him.
Hollywood has come to Rome! Actor Steve Carell from “The Office” has been spotted around town this week. He dined Wednesday night at El Zarape Mexican Restaurant on Broad Street, ate at Schroeder’s New Deli on Broad on Thursday and then ate lunch at Bistro 208 on Friday. Where will he turn up next? The Rome Braves sent him a request via Twitter: Hey @, we heard you’re in town. What are the chances you’d want to throw the first pitch sometime soon?
Carell is one of the lead actors in the movie “Irresistible” now filming in Rockmart. According to IMDb, the film tells the story about a Democrat strategist who helps a retired veteran run for a mayor in a small, conservative Midwest town, and also stars Rose Byrne and Mackenzie Davis, among others. Comedian and former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart is the director. The movie is slated to be released in 2020. Stewart was seen scouting out locations in Rockmart in early March.
