Latest from The City of Calhoun Police Department: Chief Tony Pyle said that the results of the autopsy point to signs of a heart attack that claimed the life of 47-year-old James Balston on Tuesday. While some facts initially led investigators to believe Mr. Balston’s death could have been the result of a homicide, Chief Pyle said that foul play is no longer suspected.
The G.B.I. and Calhoun Police are investigating a suspicious death. G.B.I. spokesperson Nelly Miles released this statement. On April 23, 2019, at approximately 10:35 AM, the GBI Calhoun office was requested by the Calhoun Police Department to assist in a death investigation. The body of James Balston, age 47, was transported to the local hospital after being found unresponsive where he later died. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy.
