New exterior paint and side door have been installed for The Canoe House set to open May 2 on Broad Street.

Renovations continue at 608 Broad Street forĀ The Canoe House, a new outdoor gear and apparel store opening soon alongsideĀ Colosseum Escape Rooms.

Property owners Garry and Cindy Fricks purchased the building last November and will be running the business with Manager Brandon Williams. The store will feature outdoor apparel for men, women and children, as well as outdoor gear and equipment including canoes, kayaks, fly fishing, rock climbing, camping and more.

Just this week, the building received a new coat of paint and a new side door was installed for customers to easily access The Canoe House, which will be located in the back of the building. While prepping the building for paint, crews uncovered the Coca-Cola painting on the side of the building.

“We decided to preserve it to keep a reminder of the building’s history instead of covering it back up,” says Williams.

New signage will be going up this week for both The Canoe House and for Colosseum Escape Rooms, which will remain open at the location.

The Canoe House will open the first of May with an open house event planned for Thursday, May 2 from 5-8 p.m. Musician Scott Thompson will provide entertainment. Colosseum Escape Rooms will also be open so folks can make reservations that day as well.
