Buzz: Berry’s Spring Market hours for today now 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Alcohol Control Commission meets Monday; to decide permits for downtown events. Retired educators award scholarship to GNTC student.

 

Hours updated for today’s spring market at Berry College. We’ll have additional updates today as needed.


Rome’s Alcohol Control Commission meets at 5 p.m. Monday. Among the items on the agenda:

  • Public Consumption of Alcohol at the Clocktower on May 25 and for Saturday events in downtown Rome on May 4, June 1, July 6,  Aug. 3 and Oct. 12.
  • Issue a new Beer and Wine Pouring License at Lawrence Plantation at Horseleg Creek, 127 Winding Rd., to Todd Williams
  • Issue a new Beer Package License at AJ & B Food Mart, 610 Calhoun Ave., to Mohammad Asam.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College Early Childhood Care and Education student Misty Blasengame received a $1,000 scholarship from the Floyd-Rome Retired Educators Association. The scholarship was presented to Blasengame, a resident of Lindale, during a luncheon at the Thornton Recreation Center in Armuchee. Daphnie Morrison presented the scholarship to Blasengame on behalf of FRREA. Each year, the Floyd-Rome Retired Educators Association presents scholarships to exceptional students majoring in education. Scholarships also were awarded to students from Berry College, Shorter University and the University of West Georgia during the presentation. The Early Childhood Care and Education program at GNTC is offered on all six GNTC campuses in the northwest Georgia region. The program is offered as an associate degree, diploma or certificate.
