Power restored at Floyd/Gordon border; traffic still an issue.


1:50 p.m. From North Georgia EMC: Power restored following morning accident. At one time, more than 1,100 customers were in the dark.

From Floyd 911: “Hwy 156 will be down to one open lane of traffic for probably the remainder of the day. Please be prepared for delays or find alternate routes.”

  • At 1:50 p.m., Google Traffic still shows major slowdowns in both directions.


Crews from North Georgia EMC are on the scene of a truck accident at Ga. 156 and Old Dalton Road Friday morning, attempting to restore power to 1,116 customers in Floyd and Gordon counties. The accident took down power lines, spreading them across Ga. 156, according to Floyd County Police.

Floyd County 911 has posted an “avoid the area” notice with this update:

“Hwy 156 just west of Old Dalton Rd is shut down due to a power pole and lines being hit by a transfer truck. There is no ETA of when it will reopen. Please avoid the area & find alternate routes.”

Google Traffic shows the area heavily congested as of 9:50 a.m.

From Georgia Power: An outage in Cave Spring that took out service to nearly 100 customers has been repaired ahead of time. All clear in Cave Spring.
