Health: Q & A with Jeff and Mary Margaret Mauer on the need for Hope Village and what’s next (radio interview).

Jeff and Mary Margaret Mauer of Global Impact and Restoration Rome joined us on Friday’s Hometown Headlines Radio Edition on WRGA 98.7 FM to take a closer look at plans for Hope Village on the grounds of the former Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital in West Rome. The above SoundCloud feature includes almost 14 minutes of our interview covering these areas:

The inspiration for Hope Village.

The overall concept: “We actually will build a city within the city,” says Jeff Mauer. ” … we believe in a comprehensive solution to complex problems (behavioral health, mental health, substance abuse, poverty. Hope Village is going to be designed to work on all those issues concurrently.” It will involve residential treatment, transitional living and outpatient services.”

How the concept actually predates the Mauers’ ongoing success at Restoration Rome. Says Mauer: “We had been working on this project since we took over Southeast Elementary.”

What needs to happen over the next few months to launch Hope Village, including the state, area governments and stakeholders.

While helping many of those in need in our community, a look at some of the other benefits associated with the concept — including more than 300 jobs with room to grow.
