Update: Driver dies in truck fire on I-75 near Glade Road in Bartow County on Wednesday, according to WRGA.

From Georgia DOT: “There is an accident on I-75 Northbound at Glade Road (Exit 278) in Bartow County.  Northbound traffic is affected with two of three left lanes blocked. Motorists traveling in this area should expect delays or use an alternate route (U.S. 41).  For more information, please continue to check Georgia 511.

One person was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on I-75 near Glade Road in Bartow County Wednesday. According to the Georgia State Patrol:

The vehicle was traveling north on Interstate 75 in the left lane when it exited the left side of the roadway and struck a cable barrier with its left side. The impact with the cable barrier ignited an engine fire. It continued along the cable barrier and guard rail for a distance of 429 feet before coming to an uncontrolled rest in the left shoulder of the over pass, being fully engulfed in flames.

The driver was pronounced deceased due to fire related injuries. The witness stated she was traveling behind the vehicle in the middle lane. She said it just drifted off the roadway and struck a guard rail before coming to an uncontrolled rest in the left shoulder.

The accident report has not been completed.
