Health: Bids sought for 50,000-square-foot Hamilton Health Care System medical office building in Calhoun.

Google Map shows the location of the proposed medical office building.

Planned for Curtis Parkway and Dogwood Drive, Hamilton Medical Center is seeking bids for a large medical office building in Calhoun, according to LDI Line construction guide. Look for three stories of examine rooms and offices to rise at Curtis Parkway near the Dogwood Drive intersection just below Dews Pond Road west of I-75.

It is a huge move by Dalton-based Hamilton Health Care System, which describes itself as a “not-for-profit, fully united system of care serving the Northwest Georgia region. The Dalton-based flagship of the system, Hamilton Medical Center, is a 282-bed regional acute-care hospital which offers major medical, surgical and diagnostic services, including award-winning, accredited stroke and chest pain centers.”

Hamilton currently has a number of practices in Calhoun, especially in the Curtis Parkway area, including primary care, nuerosurgery and a physicians group.

We will contact Hamilton Healthcare later today for additional updates on its Calhoun/Gordon County plans.

It marks Hamilton’s boldest move yet into a county primarily dominated by Gordon Hospital with other major nearby players including Harbin Clinic, Floyd Medical Center and two HCA properties, Redmond Regional in Rome and Cartersville Medical Center in Cartersville.
