Here is a current report on road conditions in Floyd County, 9 a.m. Wednesday:

Silver Hill Road is open. Closed last week by a mudslide triggered by recent rains, Public Works Director Michael Skeen announces the road is now open to traffic.

Old Dalton Road is now open.

Still closed
Thomas Bluff Road
Collier Road
Old River Road

These roads will be monitored regularly.  Please do not move signs or barricades or drive thru the areas until inspected and opened by Public Works.

Update on Hwy 48: Highway 48 is not shut down from Summerville City Limits to Menlo City Limits. Local traffic can take East Peach Orchard to Peach Orchard and back out at Pops Country store or to Ga.  337. All commercial traffic will be routed to LaFayette and down Ga. 337 or Ga. 337 to Lafayette. Please share..

From Chattooga County 911: The Chattooga County Schools will open at the normal time on Wednesday. Highway 48 should affect only one bus and we will reroute that. All buses will pick your children up at the normal time.

Coosa River at Plant Hammond. 577.4 feet and steady. Flood stage: 570 feet.

Armuchee Creek: 22.8 and falling. Flood stage: 19 feet.

Chattooga River, Summerville. 12.8 feet and rising. Flood stage is 14 feet.

Coosa River at Lock and Dam Park. 29.9 feet and falling. Flood stage: 24 feet.

Oostanaula River, Calhoun: 26.3 feet and falling. Flood stage: 21 feet.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Showers, mainly after 2am. Low around 51. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers before 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of showers after 4pm. High near 66. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
