Shaw Industries growing again on Adairsville’s west side off Ga. 140: The original announcement came with all the bells and whistles in the quaint, downtown Adairsville. Dalton-based Shaw Industries in August 2013 announced plans to build an $85 million carpet tile manufacturing facility just about a mile to the west, off Ga. 140 near the turn to Barnsley Gardens. The investment came with a pledge to hire up to 500 people.
The plant, named T1, was up and running by the end of 2016. At the time, 170 people were employed there.
This month, Shaw announces the plant — with more than 300 associates — is ready to grow. The company will spend another $80 million to add around 500,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space to the facility – a move that will double the number of employees in the coming years, the company says. Construction and the installation of new equipment should be completed in 2021.
Shaw calls it an “opportunity for additional investment, expansion and job growth.” It bolsters the company’s standing as Bartow County’s largest employee with “with approximately 3,100 associates and eight facilities in the county.”
