Mr. John Parker Henry, age 78, of Lindale, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at a local hospital.
Mr. Henry was born in Floyd County, Georgia on December 6, 1940, son of the late Martin P. Henry and the late Effie Mull Henry. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Owens Henry, and by 5 sisters, Katie Ruth Bevels, Hazel Wheeler, Bessie Bevels, Opal Jackson and Syble Dixon. In his younger years, Parker worked for Millican’s Grocery Store in Lindale and later retired from Pepperell Manufacturing where he worked until the mill closed. He was a member of the Lindale Church of God and the Quarter Century Club at Pepperell Manufacturing.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Carter Henry; three sons, David Henry, Lindale, Tim Henry, Humble, TX and Eric Henry (Brandi), Cartersville; three step-sons, Brian Messenger (Desi), Rome, Jasper Knowles (Crystal), Dalton, and Jerry Knowles, Lindale; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Pastor Glyn Davis and Pastor John Moates officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 1 until 2:45 p.m.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and include: Grandsons: Josh Henry, Kyle Henry, Owen Henry and Evan Henry.
Mrs. Silvia Salam-Lopez, age 42, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in a local hospital.
Silvia was born in Suchitepequez Mazatenango, Guatemala on July 26, 1976, daughter of the late Enrique Salam and the late Paulina Lopez Ovalle. Silvia and her husband Amancio Aguilar, owned and operated El Venado Guatemala Restaurant.
Silvia is survived by her husband, Amancio Aguilar; her daughter, Ashley Aguilar; her son, Jonathan Aguilar; her sisters, Nineth Gonzalez, Paola Gonzalez and Flory Lopez; her brother, Giovanni Lopez; her sisters-in-law, Avra and Silvia Aguilar; her uncle, Quike Lopez; and the rest of the family.
A Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Valery Akoh, assisted by Deacon Stuart Neslin, will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Mass will be celebrated in Spanish. Following the Funeral Mass, Mrs. Salam-Lopez will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.

Mr. Robert Allen “Bob” Townley, age 76, of Armuchee, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Townley was born on January 29, 1943, son of the late Bonnie Lee Townley and the late Eula Lee Rogers Townley. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force (serving from 1961- 1965) and a member of Floyd Springs United Methodist Church. Prior to retirement, Bob worked with DOAS in Telecommunication with the State of Georgia for over 30 years.
He was not a person to sit still. He loved driving his tractor in the back fields while he had his daily conversations with God. After retirement, Bob starting volunteering with CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team). He also became involved with Northwest Georgia Red Cross where he was able to do what he loved most, help people. Bob was honored through the Red Cross as “Volunteer of the Year.” Bob also enjoyed being a member of the Western Promenaders. He is remembered as loving, kind and gentle. A man who was passionate about his family and cared for everyone. Bob was a protective and heroic father and a guiding and loving light to his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Rick Douwsma and Patrick Whittington.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Speir Townley, Armuchee; six daughters, Kathie Lackyard (Steve), Seattle, WA, Yvette Douwsma, Acworth, Stephanie Newsum (Jeremy), Cleveland, GA, Michele Hall (Rick), Acworth, Kim Whittington, Rome, and Mary Pierce (Allen), Euharlee, GA; 11 grandchildren, Tesia Sullins, Daniel Sullins (Laura), Elijah Sullins, Kaitlin Leonard (John), Justin Adler, Annamarie Tant, Stephen Rowell, Zack Hall, Haley Hall, Marissa Newsum and Liana Newsum; 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Jones and Nova Sullins; sister, Brenda Lewis (Tom), Nashville, TN; and two nieces.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Patrick Hopper officiating. Military rites will be presented by the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Ms. Kathrine Mary “Kathy” Osburn, age 60, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at a local hospital.
Ms. Osburn was born in Germany on September 17, 1958, daughter of the late Eugene Jack Rhoads and the late Marilyn Lucille Williams Rhoads. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Rhoads. For several years, she was employed with United Grocery Outlet in Ft. Payne, AL. She was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include her son, Gilbert Osburn, Rome; 2 grandchildren, Shawn-Michael Osburn and Cheyenne Osburn; 2 sisters, LaDonna Cochran (David), Las Cruces, NM, and Audrey Clifton, Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Shawn Rhoads, Section, AL; nieces and nephews.
Ms. Osburn was cremated in accordance with her wishes and no formal services are planned.

Mr. Douglas Paul Rogers, age 62, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at a local hospital.
Doug was born in Rome, GA on October 29, 1956, son of Larry Rogers and Dora Ann Cordle Rogers. Doug was a member of North Rome Church of God and loved his church. He retired from Inland Container after 40 years. He also owned Sparkles Inflatables and was probably best known as Santa Doug. He was “Santa“ in Rome and Calhoun parades. Doug was also a Shriner and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene Alfred Cordle, Sr., Exie Lou Cordle, Grady Lee Rogers and Ruby Rogers.
In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his wife, Donna Morgan Rogers; his children, Mistie Dawn Blair (Brian) and Michael Rogers (Julie); his grandchildren, Gunner, Remington and Colten; his sister, Vickie Patterson; his niece, Anna Adams; his nephew, Corey Patterson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 4:00 pm at North Rome Church of God with Pastor Terry Addis and Pastor Rick Jacobs officiating. Private interment will be held later at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at North Rome Church of God on Saturday from 1:00 pm until 3:45 pm.
