Urgent care story lines:
- Cartersville Urgent Care is the second of three urgent care centers HCA — the parent company of Cartersville Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center — is building in Rome and Cartersville with partner SmartCare Medical Group.
- The first, Redmond Urgent Care, opened in January in West Rome at Shorter Avenue and Division Street.
- The third one, also from Redmond, opens later this spring on Turner McCall at East Ninth Street.
Media release: Cartersville Urgent Care opened for business Friday. Located at 10 Main Street Marketplace (next to Starbucks), the center offers an affordable option with a convenient location close to home to meet the community’s urgent healthcare needs.
For medical needs that do not require a visit to the emergency department, or in instances when a patient is unable to see their primary care physician, Cartersville Urgent Care fills the gap between primary care and emergency care needs. The affiliation with Cartersville Medical Center grants patients seen at Cartersville Urgent Care access to the hospital’s network of physicians should they need to be referred to see a specialist for continued care.
At the groundbreaking ceremony in August, Cartersville Medical Center CEO Chris Mosley stated, “Historically, our care capacity has been restricted to our hospital campus. The model we are pursuing now is to go directly to where people live and work in the community and we found 10 Main Street Marketplace to be the perfect location.”
Cartersville Urgent Care offers walk-in care for most minor injuries and illnesses along with preventative care and testing. Whether a patient has a fracture or the flu, the modern facility and experienced providers are able to quickly diagnose and recommend a course of treatment. The facility has on-site x-ray and in-house labs. Open 7-days a week, the hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Simply walk in or check-in online.
A ribbon cutting ceremony/open house is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7, at 11:30 a.m., with tours and refreshments provided.
