Ahead of the Headlines: Rome City Commission votes on mayor, pro tem Monday night. Full weekend celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Monday: Rome City commissioners elect a mayor and mayor pro tem at tonight’s meeting, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is the annual “process” meeting, where reappointments also are made (city manager, etc.) What’s key: This is an election year for six seats on the commission. Plus: Some major issues await the board, from updating economic development plans to the Kmart/Ledbetter plan and tax break to downtown smoking and a carryover from 2018, downtown parking.
