Floyd County Police add new K9 Officer Lex funded through $33,000 in private and corporate donations. K9 already helping in seizure of narcotics.

Floyd County Police introduce new K-9 Officer Lex, who was purchased and trained with more than $33,000 raised from private donors and area companies. Lex is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois specially trained in apprehension of suspects, search and tracking, as well as drug detection. He is partnered with Sgt. Shea Hovers, who attended a special K9 training school with Lex, also funded through the donations.

Within two weeks of completing the school, Hovers and Lex were involved in recovering about $53,000 of narcotics including 1lb. of meth, 12g of heroin, 11g marijuana and 80g of ecstasy.
