Rome Middle School welcomes Dr. Kisha Thompson as assistant principal effective immediately. Thompson joins Principal Parke Wilkinson and Assistant Principal Dr. Christy Epps in completing the administrative duties for the school. Thompson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Alabama, a Master’s degree in Education from Mississippi University for Women,an Ed.S in Administration and Supervision from Union University, and her ED.D from Union University with a concentration in Education Leadership. She started her career as assistant principal for Sudduth Elementary School in Starkville, Mississippi in December of 2010 before taking a position in Family and Consumer Sciences for Tuscaloosa County Schools in August 2013. Thompson worked in the Tuscaloosa County Schools system in Family and Consumer Services until May of 2015 before acquiring a position in the same capacity for Coweta County Schools in August 2018.
Carson Raymond has returned to the Darlington Community to serve as director of major gifts in the Advancement Office. In this role, he will manage relationships with donors and oversee the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts. Raymond previously served on the school’s faculty as an Upper School Spanish teacher and head coach of the varsity soccer team. “It is such an honor to be back at Darlington,” said Raymond. “I’m certainly thrilled to join the Advancement team and I look forward to connecting (and re-connecting) with members of the Darlington Community.”
Raymond holds a M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership from Mercer University in Atlanta and a B.A. in Leadership Studies and Spanish from the University of Richmond (Va.). Most recently, he served as the associate director of alumni relations at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta where he helped plan and produce class reunions and events with a focus of increased alumni engagement; planned and facilitated programming for the school’s Young Alumni Club; and produced digital content targeted to alumni of the school. He has also held positions as director of Columbia University’s Barcelona Program and was a state agent and placement counselor with Southern Teachers Agency.
Outside of work, Carson and his wife, Coleman, enjoy traveling, listening to live music, and spending time with family and friends. Their goldendoodle (Fontaine) also keeps the couple busy at their home in Roswell.
