State Patrol: Pedestrian struck, killed on U.S. 27 near Armuchee High School Thursday night.

From the Georgia State Patrol: This crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3. A 2015 Kia Optima, driven by Ashlynn Nicole Pattison, 19, of Rome, was traveling south on U.S. 27 in the left lane.  A pedestrian, identified as Richard Dustin McCay, 29, of Lineville, Ala., was traveling southbound on U.S. 27 in the left lane.  Pattison did not see the pedestrian in her lane of travel and struck him with the front left corner area of vehicle.

It was Floyd County’s first fatal accident of the new year.
