Rev. John Clifford Vines, age 49, of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at an Atlanta hospital due to complications from an automobile accident.
Rev. Vines was born in Rockmart, Georgia, on September 28, 1969, son of the later Rev. Robert W. Vines Sr. and the late Shirley Ann Flatt Vines. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pat “Tank” Oswalt and Darlene Wilson, and his mother-in-law, Louise Fix. Rev. Vines worked for a number of years in the cabinet industry. He was an ordained minister and had pastored several churches in the Polk, Haralson and Floyd area. He was the Associate Pastor at Pleasant Hill Church in Waco, GA. John loved preaching and singing, therefore, most family gatherings included a time around the piano singing.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa “Skeeter” Fix Vines; two sisters, Wanda McDowell, Cedartown, and Mary Wilson (Ed), Cedartown; a brother, Rev. Robert Vines (Michelle), McDonough; goddaughter, Gracie Hutcheson; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2018, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Smith & Miller Funeral Home in Cedartown with the Rev. Jamey Alexander, the Rev. Jamie Hutcheson and the Rev. Anthony Trawick officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Smith & Miller Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Smith & Miller Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and include: Active: Rev. Joe Redding, Rev. John Redding, Rev. Ron Carroll, Rev. Danny Tucker, Johnny Moats, Jody Benefield, Hunter Marchbanks and Tommy Marchbanks. Honorary: Rev. Randy Vines, Paul Gladden, Rev. Tommy Pope, Greg Barber and John’s other preacher friends.

Mr. Robert Bruce Brown, age 72, of Silver Creek passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018, in a local hospital facility.
Mr. Brown was born on August 30, 1946, in Radford, Va., son of the late Chapman P. Brown and the late Peggy Jo Jones Bess (Bob). He was a graduate of Poppa Bluff High School in Missouri, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Robert was a faithful member of Lindale Church of God. Later in life, he met Mrs. Ida Mae Barkley, and they married on July 21, 1992. Prior to retirement, Robert worked as a long-haul truck driver for 40 years and enjoyed seeing the country. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his twin brother, Richard Brown; brother, Bryan Bess and the dad who raised him, Bobby Bess.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Ida Mae Barkley Brown, Silver Creek; son, Richard Bruce “Scott” Brown, VA; daughter, April Lynn Walter, Rome; two grandsons, Oscar Lee Flatt and Bryan Matthew Flatt, Silver Creek; 2 sisters, Suzanne McClurry (Will), East Sound, WA, Melinda Bess, Springfield, MO; 2 brothers, Chris Bess, Springfield, MO and Stephen Bess, AZ; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. at Lindale Church of God with Pastor Glyn Davis officiating and the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard presenting military rites. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Molock Millican, age 87, of Rome, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, at a local senior living facility.
Mrs. Millican was born on September 8, 1931, daughter of the late Hoyt C. Molock and Lucy L. Shaw Molock, of Piedmont, Alabama. She was a graduate of Piedmont High School and attended Sherwood Forest Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Herbert Emory “Herbie” Millican, and by her sister, Betty Gunnells.
Mrs. Millican thrived at her job as a homemaker. She was an avid seamstress and loved cooking, gardening, traveling and fishing.
Mrs. Millican is survived by her daughters, Brenda Steed of Rome and Debbie Injaychock (Bob) of Cashiers, N.C. ; her son, Randy Millican (Laura) of Rome; six grandchildren, Jonathan Steed of Rome, Kathryn Perrie (Thomas) of Marietta, Meghan Injaychock-Testa (Patrick) of Atlanta, Chris and Mike Millican, both of Rome and Stephanie Moore (Brent); one great-grandson, Stephen Moore of Rome; one brother, Kenneth Molock (Sally) of Winnetka, CA; one brother-in-law, Carl Millican (Dale); several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Samples officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
